Product Description
The Channel Plus SVM-22 two-input S-video modulator converts and routes any S-video or composite video source to a user-selected UHF or Ultraband cable TV channel, giving viewers a drift-free picture and topnotch sound. The viewer simply chooses the output frequency (channel) and modulator using the Select button, and then presses the Program button to enter the number of the desired TV channel. Any TV connected to the output--including a connected TV located several rooms away--will then receive signals from the video source by tuning to the proper channel. In addition, the SVM-22 encodes each channel using the MTS stereo standard, which sends stereo and surround sound information to any MTS-compatible TV receiver. As a result, viewers can enjoy such audio features as dbx noise reduction and Dolby Pro Logic decoding through a connected surround sound speaker system.
Each audio/video input incorporates active termination loop outs. With active termination, it's no longer necessary to use removable jumpers or specialized "Y" adaptors during setup when connecting video to a second device. Instead, each input senses when an audio/video interconnect is plugged into the output and activates the loop feature. The loop out does not affect the quality of the audio/video signal, but offers an added benefit by integrating quickly into complex systems. The high-quality S-video connections further simplify the wiring needs of the entire system by eliminating the use of multiple types of video interconnects. Once the A/V cables are connected to the output jacks, all audio and video signals will pass through for use with a local monitor, VCR, or DVR.
The SVM-22 also supports integrated IR control, which lets you operate connected video sources from another room. To activate the IR control, users will need a 5-volt or 12-volt IR system and IR emitters for each component (sold separately), which plug into the rear emitter jacks. When the viewer presses a button on the remote, it sends a signal to the IR system, which passes the signal to the modulator's IR emitter. The emitter then repeats the remote control signal back to the original source. The end result is the ability to control a DVD player, DA series amplifier, and other components from up to 75 feet away.
The SVM series is geared to complement Channel Plus's line of distribution amplifiers, including the DA-550, which includes an integrated 12-volt IR system. Finally, the SVM-22 can fit in any 19-inch rack mount (mounting ears included). Other details include a desktop-style power supply, gold RCA connectors, and EPROM memory backup. The SVM-22 measures 17 by 1.75 by 6.5 inches (W x H x D) and is backed by a one-year warranty.
